Definition: Poverty-weighted Index
Poverty-weighted Index - "an alternative to
GNP growth that gives an equal weight to a
1-percent increase in income for any member
of society. For example, a 1-percent
income growth for the bottom 10 percent
would be given the same weight in growth
as a 1-percent income growth for the top
10 percent." - source: Economic Development 4th Edition by E. Wayne Nafziger
